wlky's marissa has more on what you need to know.. to avoid a parking citation. after this wknd..you'll risk getting a ticket if you don't feed the meter on a saturday. paying on saturdays has actually
been required by city ordinance for years but never enforced. that's about to change. in the past..there just haven't enough cars in downtown but parking authority of river city director
tiffany smith says with louisville's growing downtown.. it makes sense to begin saturday enforcement. there are roughly 4800 metered spaces in louisville. most are downtown..
along with some on bardstown road and frankfort avenue. beginning saturday september 6th - you will have to feed the meter monday through saturday - from 7am through 6 pm.
smith says parc will not hire additional enforcers. we'll shift hours around and we'll use two officers on saturdays those officers will issue citations for parking at an expired meter.. and
also if you're in a no- parking zone or blocking a fire hydrant. parc's board approved saturday enforcement in the spring.. when members also voted to increase the basic meter rate by 25 cents to $1.50.
smith anticipates saturday enforcement will generate about 93- thousand dollars a year for parc. she also says it'll increase spot turnover and therefore business downtown.
but manny and merle's server brett watson isn't happy about the news. he thinks it'll keep people away. a lot of people make it a day to come down..park their car in one
spot..whether they bring their bicylces or pets..and they may have goals of walking the riverfront..going to waterfront park..there's a lot of places down here to experience nearby at big city styles..
co-owner sondra wilkerson doesn't think it'll have a big impact on business. at the beginning..it'll be a little bumpy but after people get accustomed to it.. they'll drop a few quarters in..their
services here are pretty quick. it doesn't take a lot sot a parking citation is $15 but increases to $25 after a week and $50 if you don't pay within two weeks. reporting
downtown..ma.. wlky news. in july.. enforcers began issuing notices to any vehicles parked at meters on saturday..reminding them of the upcoming change. this month.. they switched to leaving
warnings on those cars violating the city ordinance.
car hire guernsey,again.. saturday enforcement goes into effect next saturday september 6th.
